INTRODUCING
THE DOVE & BOWEEVIL BAND
The Dove & Boweevil Band are Americana-Soul artists based in Norfolk. Known for their memorable melodies and eclectic and energising music. Soaring vocals from Lauren Dove and raw, gritty guitar from Mark 'Boweevil' Howes who are backed by a mightily accomplished band.
Dove and Boweevil released their debut album ‘Getting Somewhere’ as a duo in March 2011 following an inspiring trip in pursuit of their passion of Blues and Soul from New Orleans to Chicago performing in Nashville, becoming a finalist in a songwriters competition at reputable Eddie’s Attic in Atlanta as well performances at Buddy Guy’s Blues Club in Chicago. There they reveled in witnessing the likes of Etta James, Bonnie Raitt, Joe Cocker, and Mavis Staples.
Since forming, their last album This Life was nominated for best album AND best song in the IBBA's, pick of the week on BBC Radio London's Robert Elms show, a playlist of the month Future Radio, BBC Introducing song of the week.
Their recent releases are a firm nod to more of a vintage soul feel. Blending influences from Gospel harmonies and echoes of Memphis Stax, Al Green, and Ann Peebles. New music beckons in 2021. If you're an avid music fan be sure to follow them.
